Stem Cells for Breast Implants
Japanese researchers say that they have found a way to use stem cells, combined with a women's own fat, to create a lasting increase in breast size, without the need for silicone or salt water implants.
An attempt to increase breast size with fat has not been successful in the past because some of the tissue dies, leaving hard lumps in the breast. Researchers say that adding stem cells could prevent this by stimulating blood vessels to grow.
The first operation has already taken place, and the Japanese hope to do several more. Plastic surgeon Adam Katz from the University of Virginia said: "There's a good shot that this will work," but called for more animal trials before op's on women.
